2023 Event

The annual mental health storytelling event uses various forms of artistic expression such as storytelling, music, dance, and more to facilitate the sharing of personal stories and experiences related to mental health.

We welcome the incredible 2023 presenters Michele Haddon, Jameel Chauhan, Madelaine McCallum, Natalie Senik, and Jordan Cooke.

The event benefits the community by providing a platform for individuals to share their stories and experiences, which can be therapeutic for the performers and help to break down the stigma surrounding mental health. The audience benefits by promoting understanding and empathy towards others, creating a sense of community. The 2023 Annual Event was held on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

The Connection Project partnered with Mental Health Recovery Partners – South Island (MHRP-SI) to promote mental health care accessibility and destigmatization in the community. Our work in the art world emphasizes the importance of storytelling in giving voice to mental health experiences and promoting understanding and empathy. We were proud to collaborate with MHRP-SI, whose inclusive programs and services for people with mental illness align with our mission of promoting mental health care accessibility for all. We believe that through our joint efforts, we can significantly impact mental health outcomes in the community.

Mental Health Recovery Partners – South Island shared their work at the event, and we were grateful to have them as our honoured guests.
